Summer STEAM Camps - 2026

The All Day STEAM Camps with Ignite the Mind inspires young minds to think, plan and create with the arts in the morning and STEM in the afternoon. Mornings start at 8:00 a.m. and end at 12:00. We will have your child eat a packed lunch brought from home with us between 12:00 and 1:00, supervised free time. The afternoon sessions start at 1:00 p.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. For the All Day STEAM Camp, you will receive a reduction in the rate of signing up for two camps. Camps are generally for children 8 and older.

WHEN:  All-day camps include the morning sessions, which are art-based (photography, drawing & painting, ceramics or soap/candle making) and afternoon session, which are STEM based (veterinary medicine, astronomy, robotics, nature's medicine and our new camp this year, Energy Alternatives).  Your child will produce TWO products for the week that you choose, one for each 1/2-day camp.  

Cost:   $360 / week for a full day ($460 for (morning)/robotics).  All sessions have a take-home product from their week with us!  If the cost of this class is a barrier, scholarship funds are available for low-income families.  Please contact us for details.  If you need  to drop off or pick up earlier or later by 1 hour, (7:00 earliest, 6:00 latest), there is a $15 fee per child per day ($75).  Please choose that option at check out.

Full-day camps:  Bring a water bottle, snack and lunch

Photography is a way to capture a memory, a moment in time forever frozen. In this camp, students will learn how to enhance the beauty of a moment, draw the eye to a specific point, adjust the way the camera captures light, focus on an object, and how to edit photos to change the story the photo tells. We will work with a whole array of styles such as portrait, landscape, cityscape, architecture, and object focus. Along with that we will learn to see the world from a different view to find the beauty in the ordinary world.

WHEN:  This morning STEAM camp (8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) will be held on June 10th through June 14th, 2024  AND July 15th through July 19th and is for ages 8 and up, Monday through Friday.  All sessions have a take-home product from their week with us!

Veterinary medicine is an incredibly popular science for young people. It is also pretty challenging, as the patients veterinarians treat cannot tell them what hurts or how they feel. In this camp, students will learn about hematology (study of blood), parasitology (common skin, fecal and blood parasites) and microbiology (microscopic organisms which cause diseases). They will do case studies on small and large animal diagnosis of diseases based on symptoms and winners of the case-study contests will win prizes.

WHEN:  This afternoon STEAM camp (1:00 to 5:00 p.m.) will be held on June 8th through June 12th, 2025  AND July 20th through July 24th and is for ages 8 and up and a separate camp specifically for 12+ only, Monday through Friday for $190 / week.  All sessions have a take-home product from their week with us!

Pottery is a physical form of art. We will be working with self-drying clay to make things such as plates, bowls, mugs, jewelry holders, and anything else the students can imagine. We will be learning about different techniques such as throwing clay, pinching, slipping, coiling and glazing. At the end of the week, students will be able to take their pieces home along with the ability to use their knowledge to make more pieces on their own.

This morning STEAM camp (8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) will be held on June 17th through June 21st, 2024  AND July 22nd through July 26th and is for ages 8 and up, Monday through Friday.  All sessions have a take-home product from their week with us!

In astronomy camp, kids will learn details about our solar system and our galaxy. We’ll talk with Astrobiologists about their research to find life on other planets. We’ll figure out ways to get humans from Earth to Mars, and how we can sustain life there, which involves some chemistry. Students will learn how a telescope works. They will build one of two different types of simple telescopes—an astronomical and a terrestrial telescope—each with a magnification of 5X. They then experiment with the different telescope designs and determine how the lens combination in each telescope works to magnify an object’s image. At the end of the week, students can take their telescope home so that they can look at the stars.  Or, if students choose, we will build an age appropriate rocket.

We are so excited to add this new art class where students will learn the art of soap making, create different soaps to take home to use, sell or give as gifts.  Half of our time will be spent on soaps and the other half will be candle making, which is much more complex than we might think.  We'll start with hot candle making and then develop new candles using cold press.  Students will decide on different designs, shapes, fragrances and colors.  All of their creations will be sent home with students at the end of the week.

WHEN:  This morning STEAM camp (8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) will be held on July 6-10 and July 20-24, and is for ages 8 and up, Monday through Friday.  During the first session, we are also offering a camp just for campers 12+ only.  All sessions have a take-home product from their week with us!

In this class we will learn different techniques of painting and drawing. We will learn what types of paint to use to create different pieces as well as what levels of graphite to use to achieve various styles of drawings. We will work with recreating objects realistically and abstractly using color theory. Students will be able to work alone or with another student to expand their knowledge and skills.

Plants are the foundation of our survival, as a food source for us and for the animals we can eat, and as medicines to reduce pain, calm nerves, reduce inflammation, soothe a sunburn, and many more. Some plants can also cause severe health issues to humans and our pets. Students will build a medicinal plant book, include pictures or pressed specimens, identify their common and scientific names as well as their uses to heal or harm. At the end of the week, they get to keep their book, and hopefully add to it.

WHEN:  This afternoon STEAM camp (1:00 to 5:00 p.m.) will be held on July 14-18, 2026 and is for ages 8 and up.  All sessions have a take-home product from their week with us!

Little Kids' Discovery Camp teaches kids ages 3-6 all about STEAM.  Each week, we will focus on a new topic for our half-day kiddos.  You can choose morning, afternoons or full-day camps (see Full Day Summer STEAM Camps found HERE).

This class will excite kids who like to build things that will move.  They will have several options which are age appropriate, from Lego style rovers to battle bots.  At the end of the week, students will take home their robots and be able to change them or play with them throughout their childhood.
